Houston is waking up clear and comfortable Saturday, but the city is headed for another near-90-degree afternoon. The bigger concern is air quality, with an Ozone Action Day in effect as sunny skies and light winds allow pollution to build.
Sunny, Hot Saturday With Ozone Concerns
Temperatures around Houston will climb from about 70 degrees early to the upper 80s by afternoon, with a high near 90. East winds of 5–10 knots are expected Saturday afternoon, shifting south-southeast by evening, while rain is essentially off the table.
The National Weather Service Houston/Galveston says the Ozone Action Day runs through Saturday evening. Residents can help limit pollution by combining errands, avoiding unnecessary idling and conserving energy.
Beachgoers Face Rip Current Risk
Anyone heading toward the coast should pay closer attention to conditions than the sunny forecast might suggest. A high rip-current risk continues through Saturday evening, while a Small Craft Advisory remains posted for Gulf waters through early Saturday morning.
Sunday stays sunny and warm near 90 degrees, with onshore winds returning and increasing slightly. Monday brings the first meaningful rain chance of the week, with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m.
Storm Chances Rise Next Week
Rain chances are expected to rise next week. Highs will remain near 90 through Thursday, with a possible cooler period around Friday or Saturday.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality recommends reducing activities that create ozone pollution during an Ozone Action Day. For Saturday, that means a good excuse to combine errands, seek shade and save the long outdoor workout for a less sultry afternoon.
