A Brevard County judge sentenced a Palm Bay man to 25 years in state prison followed by lifetime probation for fatally shooting a 19-year-old man who was trying to drive away from a Halloween night party outside a Palm Bay nightclub in 2021. Latrawn S. Servant, now facing a decades-long prison term, had pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and related charges just days earlier, after losing a stand your ground hearing in which he claimed he acted in self-defense.
A Plea Just Days After a Failed Self-Defense Claim
Brevard County Circuit Judge Steve Henderson handed down the sentence, according to The Space Coast Rocket. Servant entered a no-contest plea to second-degree murder and related charges. The plea came one day after Servant lost his stand your ground hearing, the outlet reported, a ruling that left him facing trial on a second-degree murder charge that could have resulted in a life sentence.
Henderson adjudicated Servant guilty on aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, shooting into a vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, in addition to the murder count, the outlet reported. The judge imposed 24.5-year sentences on the additional counts, running concurrently with the 25-year murder sentence, and credited Servant with roughly 4.4 years already served in the Brevard County jail, where he had remained without bond from his arrest until sentencing. If Servant violates the terms of his lifetime probation once released, he could be sent back to prison for life.
Gunfire Erupts as a Teen Tries to Leave the Party
The shooting unfolded at about 11 p.m. on Halloween night, October 31, 2021, outside the Hive Lounge, a club where more than 100 people had gathered for a party. Spacecoastdaily.com reported the club was located at 2040 Palm Bay Road. Frank Glover, a 19-year-old from Rockledge, died of gunshot wounds at Holmes Regional Medical Center.
Servant fired at Glover as he tried to drive away. The car crashed into a tree, and Palm Bay officers later found Glover outside the wrecked vehicle at the Arlington Pine Apartments behind the lounge.
Two Others Wounded as Chaos Spread Through the Parking Lot
Two other people were injured in the shooting.
The case was resolved in a plea shortly before sentencing.
The Hive Lounge killing adds to a broader pattern of gun violence that Brevard County has been working through in recent years. Florida Today reported that the county logged 24 homicides in 2025, with one still unsolved, down from 49 in 2020 and 40 in 2024 — among the lowest annual totals recorded in nearly three decades, trailing only the 13 homicides tallied in 1994.
