Four officers were hospitalized after two 110th Precinct patrol cars collided during a pursuit in Flushing Meadows Corona Park near Field 3, Streetsblog New York City reported.
A teenager was injured in a separate assault
Just after 5 p.m. Monday, police responded to a report of shots fired near 111th Street and 47th Avenue. They encountered a large group and found a 15-year-old boy slashed across his head and left arm. EMS took him to Harlem Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, QNS reported.
Pursuit details and open investigation
Streetsblog reported that officers pursued a 16-year-old moped rider, who was arrested with a knife and charged with reckless endangerment and resisting arrest. The outlet said police later determined the rider was not involved in the original robbery or slashing. The pursuit and rider details are based on Streetsblog’s reporting.
What NYPD policy says about vehicle pursuits
According to the NYPD, officers’ discretion to initiate vehicle pursuits is limited to felonies and violent misdemeanors; pursuits are barred for traffic infractions, violations and non-violent misdemeanors. The policy alone does not establish whether the pursuit in this case complied.
No arrests had been made in connection with the slashing, and the investigation was ongoing, QNS reported. The outlet said police were looking for a gunman and the person who slashed the teenager.
The 110th Precinct reported 550 felony assaults through Oct. 11, 2026, compared with 478 through the same date in 2025, an increase of 72 cases, or 15.1%, according to the CompStat figures cited by QNS. Anyone with information about Monday’s slashing can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477), or 888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish; submit a tip at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org; or contact @NYPDTips on X. QNS reported that calls and messages are confidential.
