According to the FOX Carolina News report on the incident, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the fatal crash happened late Friday night near the intersection of U.S. 176 and Commerce Point Boulevard. A 2017 Audi SUV was traveling east on U.S. 176 when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing the highway, per troopers. Reports differ on the exact timing of the crash: thestate.com reported the crash occurred at about 10:05 p.m. Friday, while a separate account from wyff4.com placed it at about 10:39 p.m.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene, the outlet reported. There was one person in the Audi, and that driver was not injured in the crash. The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office had not yet released the identity of the deceased, and no further details about the victim were immediately available.
