Philadelphia is waking to clear skies and a brisk north wind Tuesday, with temperatures climbing from the upper 40s to a high near 70. Gusts could reach 25 mph, making the morning feel sharper than the sunny forecast suggests. Inland conditions will stay dry, but the Jersey Shore and Delaware coast face a more complicated day.

The National Weather Service expects sunshine across the city with no rain in the forecast. Winds will remain generally out of the north at about 10 mph, with occasional stronger gusts during the afternoon.

Sunny In Philadelphia, Rougher Near The Shore

Tuesday night will be mostly clear and cooler, with a low around 48 degrees. Wednesday stays sunny but cooler, topping out near 63. Thursday brings another sunny day and a high near 68.

The offshore nor’easter is expected to stay well east of Philadelphia, so the city is not expected to see meaningful rain from it. Persistent northeast winds will push water toward the coast, however, bringing a Coastal Flood Advisory from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday for parts of New Jersey and Delaware, while additional tidal flooding is possible Wednesday.

Wednesday evening is currently the most concerning high-tide cycle, with widespread minor coastal flooding possible and moderate flooding in some back-bay locations. The National Weather Service says coastal winds could reach about 35 mph, with rough marine conditions continuing through Thursday.

Cooler Nights Bring A Real Fall Feel

Philadelphia’s overnight lows will settle into the 40s through the end of the week, including about 46 Wednesday night, 49 Thursday night and 48 Friday night. Friday will be sunny but cooler, with a high near 61, followed by a bright Saturday near 60.

Sunday should reach around 58 degrees, and Monday could reach 63 under sunny skies. For city plans, Tuesday and Thursday look like the warmest bets; anyone heading toward the shore should check tide conditions and coastal alerts before leaving.
