
Two children were injured, one of them critically, after a pickup truck struck them while they were crossing Beech Daly Road in Redford Township on Thursday afternoon. Both were rushed to a local hospital following the collision, which happened outside a designated crosswalk near Plymouth Road.
According to wxyz.com, the children were crossing Beech Daly around 4 p.m. when the pickup struck them. The CBS Detroit report places the collision at about 4:05 p.m. Thursday as the pickup traveled southbound on Beech Daly near Plymouth Road, striking both pedestrians.
Both children were taken to a hospital for treatment, and one was listed in critical condition due to injuries from the collision, Redford Township police said. The report notes the second child's condition has not been specified beyond being injured and hospitalized.
Driver Stayed at the Scene, Police Say
The driver remained at the scene after the crash and is cooperating with investigators, according to police. The station's report also notes the driver was cooperating with the investigation, consistent with what Redford Township police have said publicly.

Another Crash Involving Kids in Redford This Year
Thursday's crash is not the only recent incident involving children struck by vehicles in Redford Township. In August, a car hit two children riding e-bikes in Redford, according to clickondetroit.com. Those children were identified as 13-year-old Kanaei Harris and his 15-year-old sister, Romance Brooks.
Harris was reportedly unresponsive and in intensive care at Children's Hospital in Detroit after suffering a brain bleed, per the same report. His sister survived that crash with four fractured ribs, a liver laceration, and scrapes and bruises, the outlet reported.
A multi-vehicle crash occurred at I-96 and Beech Daly.
No further details about Thursday's crash, including the driver's identity or whether charges are being considered, have been released. Police continue to ask that anyone with information on the collision come forward.
