Free smash burgers and fried chicken are on the menu this Saturday as Nash & Smashed throws open the doors to its newest Pimmit Hills location. The halal fast-casual chain will mark the grand opening at 7450-B Leesburg Pike on Oct. 24 with complimentary meals served from 5 to 8 p.m., giving neighbors a chance to enjoy the restaurant's offerings at no cost.
Diners can choose between a Classic Bull smashed burger or a fried chicken leg and thigh served with fries, according to FFXnow. The chain's invitation for the event was simple and direct: come hungry and bring your friends. It is the kind of welcome Nash & Smashed has extended before, pairing new storefronts with free food to pull in first-time customers.
A Menu Built Around Smash Burgers and Hot Chicken
Nash & Smashed built its identity around beef smash burgers, fried chicken and Nashville-style hot chicken sandwiches, and the Pimmit Hills location will carry the same lineup found at most of its other shops, per the outlet's report. The broader menu includes chicken tenders, wings, bites, milkshakes, smashed blend mojitos, and dessert options like blueberry lemon cheesecake, turtle cheesecake and orange luxe cake. The chain does vary its offerings at food trucks and smaller express units, but its full-size restaurants generally stick to the same core menu.
Every item on the menu is halal. Chief operating officer Lamaan Malik described the food as freshly prepared and local, noting that Nash & Smashed sources ingredients from local suppliers rather than relying on frozen product. Malik also said the smash burger itself is meant to stand apart from competitors' versions, though specifics on what sets it apart weren't detailed.
From a Single Manassas Storefront to Dozens of Locations
The Pimmit Hills opening traces back to founder Zayan Abbasi, who opened the first Nash & Smashed in Manassas in 2024, according to the seed report from FFXnow. From that single storefront, the company says it now operates 30 locations overall, including three in Fairfax County alone plus outposts in Reston and Lorton. That overall count has shifted depending on when and where it's been reported — FFXnow put the figure at seven open locations across Virginia, Maryland and D.C. in August 2025, while a more recent count from ARLnow put the chain's website listing at 27 stores. Separately, InsideNoVa has described the brand's origin as dating to 2023 in Manassas, a year earlier than the 2024 date cited in the FFXnow seed article.
The growth has moved fast. The same FFXnow report from August 2025 noted the company had 15 more locations in the works at that point, including sites planned across Fairfax County. InsideNoVa separately reported Nash & Smashed's ambitions to open in major regional cities including Arlington, Lorton, Reston, Alexandria, Warrenton and Woodbridge.
More Northern Virginia Openings Already Lined Up
Pimmit Hills won't be the chain's only new address for long. The company is preparing to open a location at 7609 Richmond Highway in Hybla Valley as soon as next week, per the same FFXnow account. Nash & Smashed is also close to finalizing a lease for a Fairfax location, with Malik saying the paperwork will probably be signed within two to three weeks, after which buildout on that site would begin.
The pattern of free-meal launches has become something of a playbook for the chain. When Nash & Smashed celebrated its Manassas Park grand opening at 9153 Manassas Drive on Aug. 19, 2025, it followed a similar formula, and the chain's second Arlington storefront at 310 N. Glebe Road in the Buckingham Center opened quietly in late August before planning its own grand-opening event about a month later, the station notes. At that Glebe Road shop, the most popular items have been the Nashville Tenders and the Oklahoma Smashed burger.
The chain has also used free food to build goodwill during religious observances. During Ramadan in 2025, Nash & Smashed offered complimentary Iftar meals at four locations, limited to the first 150 customers with a maximum of two meals per family, according to Source of the Spring. Diners in that promotion could choose between two pieces of fried chicken with fries or a chicken sandwich with fries. The chain's first Montgomery County shop, at 10121 Colesville Road in Silver Spring, opened in a soft-launch mode in January 2025, as Bethesda Magazine reported at the time, which also noted the company's stated plans to expand abroad into England, including London.
That international ambition appears to have grown since. The FFXnow report on the Pimmit Hills opening says Nash & Smashed is now expanding with upcoming locations in Australia and the United Kingdom, suggesting the company's overseas plans have evolved beyond the earlier England-only framing. For now, though, the focus stays close to home, with a free dinner in Pimmit Hills this Saturday evening as the chain's latest Northern Virginia welcome mat.
