A 19-year-old Piñon Hills woman has died following a late-night crash on Bear Valley Road in Victorville, where emergency crews found a battered Hyundai Elantra partially on the sidewalk and bystanders performing CPR on one of its passengers. Lizette T. Acero was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, and two other patients were also rushed from the scene.

Coroner Identifies Victim, Crash Timeline Detailed

The San Bernardino County Coroner identified the deceased as Lizette T. Acero, a 19-year-old resident of Piñon Hills, according to VVNG. The crash was reported at about 11:34 p.m. on October 3 on Bear Valley Road near Stonegate Drive in Victorville. Acero was transported to St. Mary Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.

When emergency personnel arrived, they located a white 2017 Hyundai Elantra partially in the roadway and on the sidewalk in the westbound lanes. The passenger side of the vehicle had sustained significant damage, and the passenger-side door had been ripped off entirely, the outlet's report notes. Witnesses said bystanders and first responders were performing CPR on a passenger of the Hyundai at the scene.

Three Patients, Lanes Shut Down for Investigation

Three ground ambulances were requested to the scene for a total of three patients, per the same account. The conditions of the other two patients were not immediately available. The westbound lanes of Bear Valley Road were closed near Amethyst Road while authorities investigated the crash.

The outlet reported it had reached out to sheriff's officials for additional information regarding the crash, and that the story was developing with updates expected as more details emerge. No cause of the crash, citation, or determination of fault has been reported.

Another Deadly Stretch for Bear Valley Road

This is far from the first serious wreck along this Victorville corridor. In August 2026, a head-on collision on Bear Valley Road killed a 28-year-old Apple Valley man and injured two children, according to the Victor Valley Daily Press. A two-vehicle crash in July 2026 at Bear Valley and Ridgecrest roads resulted in one person being airlifted, and a motorcyclist was injured in a collision with an SUV near Amethyst Road in October 2025. A May 2025 crash on the same roadway sent at least three people to the hospital and temporarily shut down part of the street.

San Bernardino County's Local Roadway Safety Plan states that the county aims to eliminate fatalities and serious injuries on unincorporated county roadways by 2050, calling safety the highest priority in decisions about its roads. The county also tracks vehicle-collision victims per 10,000 residents as part of its broader traffic safety indicators.
