A Sept. 23 parking encounter outside Avalon Elementary School led to felony charges against Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS worker Trevaughn Brown, according to a criminal complaint cited by WPXI. The complaint alleges Brown had parked in a marked no-parking zone and drove away after an officer asked him to move, running over the officer’s right foot.
The complaint says Brown criticized the officer before leaving. He later went voluntarily to the Avalon Police Department, where he was taken into custody and transported to the Allegheny County Jail, WPXI reported. The allegations have not been established in court.
Case status and employment review
WPXI reported that a Pittsburgh public safety spokesperson said Brown was placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of his hearing. The spokesperson said the Bureau of EMS planned to conduct an internal investigation after the hearing; the report gave no timeline for that review. WPXI also reported that online court records listed a Dec. 3 formal arraignment in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court.
The school setting provides limited context, but the available schedule does not establish whether this encounter occurred during student arrival or dismissal. Avonworth Elementary School’s published hours list morning drop-off from 8:45 to 9 a.m. and afternoon pickup from 3:25 to 3:40 p.m., with pickup around the back of the building, according to the school. The schedule does not explain the specific no-parking restriction involved in the complaint.
