Planet Smoothie has officially opened inside the new Feel Good convenience store at the intersection of Highway 70 and County Road 42 in Calera, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by city officials and residents, including Mayor Kenny Dale Cost and members of the Calera City Council. The shop's menu runs more than 30 deep, with smoothies and bowls made from real fruit, including lower-calorie, lower-sugar and higher-protein options for customers looking to fit a treat into their routine.
A Ribbon-Cutting Marks the Milestone
The opening, reported by the Shelby County Reporter, took place at the Feel Good development on the Highway 70 and County Road 42 corner. According to the same report, the ceremony drew city leadership and Calera residents. Planet Smoothie's menu is organized into lifestyle categories — Planet Favorites, Bowls, Energy, Superfood, Protein and Meal Replacement — according to planetsmoothie.com, giving customers a range of options whether they want a quick energy boost or a post-workout refuel.
Customers don't even have to walk in to get their fix. The Calera location's online ordering system lets people order ahead for pickup or delivery, the company's store page notes. That convenience factor, paired with the real-fruit ingredients, fits the brand's broader pitch of blending taste with healthier swaps for folks juggling busy schedules.
Hours and What's Next for the Feel Good Lineup
The new Planet Smoothie is open Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to the Shelby County Reporter. Friday hours stretch to 9 p.m., Saturday opens at 9 a.m. and runs to 9 p.m., and Sunday hours are a shorter window of 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the same account notes.
Calera residents won't have to wait long for the next addition to the Feel Good food lineup. Wetzel's Pretzels is expected to open at the same location within the next month or so, according to a Calera city Facebook post cited in the outlet's report. Wetzel's had already been named as part of the initial slate of food offerings planned for the Feel Good site, rounding out a pairing that was first floated alongside the convenience store's broader development plans.
Planet Smoothie in Shelby County
Calera's new shop is one of the chain's locations in Shelby County. The chain's Alabaster store opened years earlier on First Street North, a location co-owned by Clay and Penny Campbell, who also run a Planet Smoothie in Inverness, according to an earlier Shelby County Reporter report. That Alabaster shop originally kept shorter hours — 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and closed Sundays — a contrast to the longer, seven-day schedule now running in Calera.
Planet Smoothie has locations in Calera, Alabaster and Inverness.
