A 37-year-old man was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound inside a Plymouth gaming business in the predawn hours of Sunday, and police say the case remains unsolved with no suspect identified. Washington County Communications received a 911 call around 3:57 a.m. reporting that a man appeared to be dead inside the Gameroom at 1220 U.S. 64 West. A Plymouth police officer and Washington County sheriff’s deputies responded and found him there, killed by what investigators described as an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was identified as Sakhr Radwan Taher Maswarah, and police said his family has been notified, according to wcti12.com. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is now assisting Plymouth police with the homicide investigation, a detail also confirmed by WITN, which also reported on the case Sunday.
Investigators Pressing for Surveillance Video
Detectives are specifically seeking surveillance footage captured near the business during the late evening of Oct. 10 or the early morning hours of Oct. 11, the window when the shooting is believed to have occurred. WCTI reported that investigators are also looking for witness accounts, including any sightings of suspicious activity or unfamiliar people or vehicles around the Gameroom that night.
Police asked anyone with information to call the Plymouth Police Department at 252-793-4680. As of now, the evidence made public does not identify a suspect, a motive, or any arrests in connection with Maswarah’s death, and the investigation remains active.
An Earlier Fatal Shooting in Plymouth This Year
This is not the first deadly shooting Plymouth has seen in 2026. On April 2, officers responded to the area of Latham Avenue after hearing multiple gunshots, according to wnct.com. That investigation found 36-year-old Devonelle Brimage unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds inside a vehicle parked at 110 Latham Avenue, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second adult, 38-year-old Avione Linquad Webb, and an 8-month-old child were also inside that vehicle and suffered gunshot-related injuries, per wnct.com’s reporting. The infant was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released, while Webb was transferred to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville for further treatment. That case, too, drew assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
The April shooting did not stay unsolved for long. SBI agents arrested 18-year-old Darris Lee Barnes and Gvonta Shakur Riddick, both charged with first-degree murder and held without bond, as reported by wcti12.com. Whether Sunday’s case inside the Gameroom will see a similarly swift resolution remains to be seen, as Plymouth police and SBI investigators continue working to piece together what happened to Sakhr Radwan Taher Maswarah.
