PopUp Bagels’ existing Westport site at 971 Post Road East is a pickup operation, not a conventional walk-in shop. CT Insider reported that weekend pickups had moved there by May 2022, with a minimum order of a dozen bagels. In its recent coverage, the News-Times reported that founder Adam Goldberg described the site as a catering kitchen without a service counter, set up for drive-up service rather than retail.
PopUp Bagels has leased 178 Main Street, the former Cold Fusion Gelato space, and projects an early 2027 opening, according to Westport Journal. The News-Times also reported the planned opening and described the new location as a full-service store. The move would give customers a storefront in Westport, replacing the current pickup-oriented format.
Downtown parking planning
For customers visiting Main Street, recent reporting describes both parking management and longer-term capacity planning. Connecticut Public reported that Westport implemented lower parking time limits in August as part of efforts to balance downtown parking with walkability. In August 2024, Westport Journal reported that a town bid sought a study of three potential locations for a possible downtown parking structure; the study was not confirmation that a structure would be built.
A local operation changing format
PopUp Bagels began in Westport during the pandemic, according to CT Insider, which reported that its first setup was a backyard pickup window. The planned Main Street store would bring the brand’s customer-facing presence to the town where it began.
