Terrace Realty has proposed a 135-unit development in Port Washington, on land vacant for more than 15 years. The plan places 27 single-family and two-family homes along the southern edge, facing existing houses, and three three-story apartment buildings with 108 units near Harbor Campus to the north, according to Milwaukee Business Journal reporting.
The revised proposal changes the mix and arrangement of the development, but its total unit count is higher than the 119-unit plan rejected in February 2026. The Port Washington Plan Commission voted unanimously against that earlier, seven-building apartment proposal after residents and officials objected to its scale, the Ozaukee Press reported.
Traffic and cemetery concerns
At a meeting on the earlier plan, roughly 40 people attended; traffic and a proposed pool near a cemetery dating to 1854 were discussed, according to the Ozaukee Press. The revised layout puts the houses along the southern edge and the apartments next to Harbor Campus.
Proposed shared amenities include an outdoor pool, clubhouse, fitness center, community room, conference room and package center, the Milwaukee Business Journal reported.
Regional housing guidance offers broad policy context
The Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission’s Regional Housing Plan recommends developing and maintaining affordable housing throughout the region, providing broad policy context.
Market conditions can also vary within a region.
State law protects burial sites
The Wisconsin Historical Society says state law protects burial sites whether they are marked or unmarked. The revised development remains a proposal and has city staff support.
