About 749 Puget Sound Energy customers in Lakewood were left without power early Tuesday morning, with the outage concentrated around the Tillicum neighborhood near Harry Todd Park. The outage reportedly began around 6:57 a.m., according to the utility's outage map.

Puget Sound Energy estimated power would be restored by around 10:30 a.m., per the outage map, though the cause of the outage was still under investigation, according to The News Tribune. The outlet reported it had reached out to Puget Sound Energy for additional information. As the utility itself notes in its own outage and emergency guidance, restoration times are only estimates and can shift as crews assess damage and make repairs.

A Pattern Of Pierce County Outages

Lakewood has seen significant outages before. Back on Sept. 25, the newspaper's earlier reporting documented a much larger, wind-driven event across Pierce County, when Lakewood outage counts climbed from 692 customers at 10:10 a.m. to roughly 815 later in the day, according to the same report. That same day, Tacoma saw 843 customers lose power and about 600 were affected in Vaughn, the outlet noted.

Tacoma Public Utilities spokesperson Mike Halliday said at the time that the widespread outages were tied to high winds expected to move through the region, with the utility reporting 4,030 customers without power across 41 separate outages by 1 p.m. that day. The cause of Tuesday's Lakewood outage remains under investigation.

Checking For Updates

Puget Sound Energy provides outage information and estimated restoration times through its online outage map, which the utility says may not always match exact customer counts in real time. The company's own outage map page cautions that exact outage numbers could vary as conditions change. Residents near Harry Todd Park can check the map directly for the latest status on when service might be restored.
