One person was seriously hurt in a crash just west of uptown Charlotte before 3:40 a.m. Saturday, according to medics, who transported the victim to a hospital. The wreck happened at the intersection of West Morehead Street and Wilkinson Boulevard, a busy corridor connecting the center city to west Charlotte neighborhoods.
Medics told WBTV that the injured person suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. As of the station's report, police had not released any details about what led to the crash.
What We Still Don't Know
Investigators had not said what caused the collision, and the station's report does not specify how many vehicles were involved or what led up to the crash in the early morning hours. The condition of the person taken to the hospital beyond the designation of serious injuries also has not been made public.
News of the crash spread quickly on social media, where the traffic account @QCNTraffic posted an alert on X describing a serious crash at the same intersection and warning of backups on westbound Wilkinson Boulevard as drivers headed out of uptown.
Police have not indicated when more information about Saturday's crash might be released. Hoodline will update this story if authorities disclose further details about the cause of the collision or the condition of the person hospitalized.
