Providence is waking to mostly clear skies Saturday as a sunny afternoon heads toward 69 degrees, giving residents a crisp, comfortable start to the weekend. Northeast winds around 7 mph should keep the day feeling more like October than the warmer stretch that came before it.
Sunny Saturday Gives Way To Fog
The National Weather Service discussion expects lingering showers and low clouds through sunrise, with clearing spreading across southern New England around 5–7 a.m. Temperatures fall to around 47 overnight. Patchy fog could develop after 4 a.m. Sunday, so early-morning drivers may encounter a few murky stretches.
Sunday should improve quickly after that fog, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 65. The updated outlook is a meaningful shift from Hoodline's earlier forecast, which had called for a cloudier, wetter Sunday.
Showers Return Sunday Night
Rain showers become likely Sunday night, with a 20% chance of precipitation and a low around 52. Rainfall should stay light, with new amounts expected to remain below a tenth of an inch, but evening outdoor plans may need a backup option.
Monday could begin with a few leftover showers before skies turn mostly sunny and temperatures reach about 68 degrees. The bigger change arrives Monday night, when the low drops near 43 and northwest winds increase.
Cooler Air Settles In Next Week
Tuesday looks sunny but noticeably cooler, with a high near 59. Lows may fall into the 30s through Wednesday, with drier conditions expected late in the week.
There are no watches, warnings or advisories posted for Providence or Rhode Island. Boaters should still keep an eye on conditions later in the week, as winds could become breezier Monday night into Tuesday and seas may turn locally rough.
