Provo police are asking the public to help identify a man sought in connection with fraudulent transactions. Anyone who recognizes him is asked to call the department's tip line.
In a Facebook post published Wednesday, the Provo Police Department sought community help identifying an individual in connection with fraudulent transactions. The post asks anyone who can identify the individual to call 801-852-6210, the same number listed throughout the department's outreach on the case.
ABC4 separately reported in 2022 on a different Provo fraud investigation, including a suspect image posted to Facebook and a request for public help identifying the person, according to ABC4. The station's report said anyone with information about that investigation should contact Officer Bushman at 801-852-6210.
This is not the first time Provo police have leaned on public tips to get ahead of a fraud-related concern. Back in March 2021, the department warned residents about an email scam in which someone impersonated Provo City School District employees, cautioning people at the time, “If you receive an email from someone posing as a Provo City School District employee, please DO NOT purchase gift cards for ANYONE,” per a report from Gephardt Daily. That 2021 warning also directed anyone targeted by a similar call to report it to the department, a pattern of public appeals echoed in the current case even though there is no indication the two incidents are connected.
How to Help
For now, the department's ask is simple: if you recognize the man sought by police, call 801-852-6210. Residents can also find general guidance on reporting incidents to police through the city's crime and accident reporting page at Provo.gov, or learn more about the department itself at the city's Police page.
