A new smoothie and bowl bar has been featured at Pullman Market, a Pearl-area grocery hall with quick eateries, according to KENS 5.
Fits the Grocer's Quick-Eats Model
Pullman Market lists five quick eateries and says its bowls can be ordered as chef-created dishes or built by customers, with greens or grains as a base, according to Pullman Market.
Pearl, the district's own site, describes Pullman Market as a specialty grocer with chef-inspired quick eats and dine-in concepts. Its listing also says the market sources ingredients from the Texas region.
A 40,000-Square-Foot Food Hub Near The Pearl
The scale of the operation around Sanctuary Smoothies is considerable. Pullman Market occupies 40,000 square feet as a specialty grocer and eatery in San Antonio, and carries roughly 150 vendors, including locally sourced meats and produce alongside Texas-made wine, as reported by Texas Monthly.
How Pearl Became a Food Destination
The Pearl site was formerly light-industrial. A City of San Antonio planning document describes the redevelopment between Broadway and N. St. Mary’s Streets as transforming the area into a mixed-use development focused on food and continuing education.
The food focus was part of the site’s development planning: in 2005, City Council authorized up to $90,000 in reimbursements for initial Culinary Institute of America consulting services related to a potential culinary school at the Pearl Brewery properties, according to a City of San Antonio ordinance.
