Trick-or-treaters in Puyallup will have a new stop this week as the police department hosts its first-ever Trunk or Treat and Car Show this Friday, October 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. The free, family-friendly event takes over the Public Safety Facility parking lot at 1015 39th Ave SE, Suite 100, with classic cars and a Halloween-themed car show rolled into one evening.
The department made the announcement in a post on X, describing the gathering as “an evening of Halloween fun, decorated trunks, and awesome cars,” according to the Puyallup Police
The gathering also fits the department’s broader community-engagement work: Puyallup describes itself as a full-service agency that emphasizes community-oriented policing, outreach and proactive crime prevention. The city lists in-person events and public-facing programs among the ways the department connects with residents. The Halloween event gives that approach a seasonal format, bringing officers and families together around candy and cars rather than a police call or formal public meeting. The department’s community-oriented policing priorities are outlined on the city’s website.
The event will feature decorated trunks and cars.
Registration Required for Car Owners
Anyone who wants to show off a vehicle or decorate a trunk for the event needs to register ahead of time. The department has directed all registration questions to Nichole Bell at [email protected], the contact listed in the official event flyer.
That registration requirement applies specifically to vehicle participants in the car show and trunk displays, not to families simply attending to trick-or-treat. The event itself remains free and open to the public, with no admission cost mentioned for spectators or trick-or-treaters.
Where To Find the Festivities
The celebration will unfold in the parking lot of Puyallup's Public Safety Facility, the same complex that houses the police department at 1015 39th Ave SE. The three-hour window from 5 to 8 p.m. this Friday gives families a chance to swing by after school or work.
Billed as the department's first annual run at the event, the Trunk or Treat and Car Show adds a new community gathering to Puyallup's Halloween calendar, blending the holiday with a showcase of classic cars. Organizers framed it as a chance to bring “the whole family” together for a safe night out just days before Halloween itself.
The police event is one of several Halloween gatherings on Puyallup’s calendar. The Puyallup Main Street Association has scheduled its annual BOO-allup downtown trick-or-treat for Saturday, Oct. 31, from 3 to 5 p.m.—the following day. The association says the event is made possible by local volunteers and business owners, offering families another option as Halloween weekend unfolds. BOO-allup’s 2026 date and hours are posted by the organization.
