Q’s Culinary Cart is shifting back to mobile service. The business says on its website that it began as a food cart. Its menu has included smashburgers, specialty hot dogs and wings, along with sandwiches and loaded fries.
Owner Kwindarius “Q” Sapp opened a storefront at 8432 Old Statesville Road in 2024, after the cart launched in 2020, the Charlotte Observer reported. The shop is set to serve its final customers Saturday, ending a two-year run.
Sapp chose not to renew the lease, citing forecasted business projections as a main consideration, according to the Observer. A butcher’s shop is slated to take over the space.
The business will operate solely as a food truck for now. Sapp told the Observer he is considering the business’s next direction with lessons from the storefront in mind; the report gave no timeline for a possible return to a storefront.
Mobile food unit requirements
For food prepared and sold from a mobile unit, Mecklenburg County Environmental Health says approval depends on whether required equipment is available on the unit and/or at its affiliated commissary, according to the county.
