Pittsburgh gets one last mild stretch Friday morning before showers move in and temperatures slide back toward fall. Skies are clear early, with temperatures in the mid-60s, but rain is expected after 8 a.m. and could complicate midday commutes and outdoor plans.
The National Weather Service text forecast gives a 100% precipitation chance for Friday. The area could pick up between a tenth and a quarter-inch of rain, while temperatures briefly rise into the low to mid-70s before falling through the 60s.
Rain Arrives Earlier Friday
Friday showers are mainly expected after 11 a.m. Winds will be southwest, shifting northwest during the late afternoon.
Showers should taper to a slight chance before 7 p.m., followed by mostly cloudy skies and a low near 50. No watches, warnings or advisories are listed for Pittsburgh, and forecasters do not expect severe weather or notable flooding from this system.
Saturday Is The Weekend Weather Winner
Saturday looks like the clear choice for outdoor plans, with sunny skies, a high near 68 and light northeast winds. Sunday will be warmer at around 71 but mostly cloudy, with only a small chance of rain.
Sunny and cooler conditions return Monday, when the high should reach about 64. Overnight lows could fall to around 42 Monday and Tuesday, with patchy frost possible in colder spots northeast of Pittsburgh and across the Laurel Highlands before temperatures rebound later in the week.
