Washington is waking up to light rain and a brisk October setup Saturday, with temperatures hovering in the upper 50s before a chilly afternoon tops out near 55 degrees. The rain should taper off by early morning, but gusty winds in the region may make the day feel colder than the thermometer suggests.
Rain Fades As Winds Take Over
A few showers are possible before 8 a.m., followed by gradually clearing skies and a partly sunny afternoon. Gusty winds across the region could make the morning commute blustery even as the pavement dries out later.
Saturday Night Brings A Serious Chill
Skies should turn mostly clear Saturday night, with temperatures dropping to around 37 degrees by Sunday morning. The National Weather Service says frost and freeze concerns are focused west of the District, while Washington itself has no weather advisories listed.
Sunny Stretch Arrives Next Week
Sunday looks sunny with a high near 58, followed by mostly sunny conditions Monday and a high around 62. Temperatures climb into the mid-to-upper 60s from Tuesday through Friday, with generally dry weather and only slight rain chances.
The National Weather Service says a coastal storm developing near the Carolinas could keep shower chances in the forecast next week, particularly east of Interstate 95, though the system’s track remains uncertain.
