Construction is underway on a new RH gallery at Waterside Shops in Naples, on the site of the former Nordstrom. The project is targeted to open in late 2026, with plans for six galleries and a 174-seat restaurant beneath a glass atrium. The single-story development will replace a longtime department-store anchor at the upscale Tamiami Trail shopping center.
The work is taking place on the shopping center’s northwest corner, at 5489 Tamiami Trail North, a separate address from the broader Waterside Shops complex at 5415 Tamiami Trail North. Gulfshore Business reports that the former Nordstrom site is slated to become a single-story RH store and restaurant in late 2026. WhatNow has also reported that target.
Six Galleries, Courtyards and a Glass-Roofed Walkway
The plans describe a 29,382-square-foot, one-story retail building divided into six galleries, each with skylights. Glass-roofed walkways will connect the spaces across landscaped courtyards; the outdoor areas are planned to include seating, fountains and palm trees.
A 4,143-square-foot restaurant and wine bar will sit at the center of the project, with seating for 174 beneath an elongated glass atrium, Gulfshore Business reports. The project will combine retail browsing with sit-down dining.
Permit Issued, but Contract Still Pending
Development Contract Still Pending Gulfshore Business reported that the development contract had not yet been awarded at the time of its report. Residents seeking the permit’s current status can use Collier County’s Cityview portal and historical permit archives to search building-permit records.
Waterside Shops announced in a blog post that RH by Restoration Hardware would be joining the center's roster of retailers alongside new dining options. The center described RH as joining its existing lineup of haute cuisine establishments and exclusive retailers, a framing that fits the broader direction the property has been taking.
Part of a Larger Luxury Push at Waterside Shops
RH is part of a broader round of construction at Waterside Shops. Gulfshore Business reported that plans for Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn and Eddie V’s Prime Seafood were also approved this summer, following demolitions of former retail and bank spaces. The changes reflect a broader focus on luxury retail and shopping experiences. RH is planned for the former Nordstrom site.
Waterside’s Earlier Anchor
The center has previously undergone a major renovation tied to a department-store anchor. The Naples Daily News reported that the renovation began in summer 2004 and was expected to be completed by spring 2008, after Nordstrom was built as Waterside Shops’ new anchor.
Other local observers have pointed to a similar late-2026 timetable. A report from the Leane Suarez Group described the RH Naples project as pacing to debut near the end of this year, consistent with the broader target cited elsewhere, though no source in the available record has pinned down an exact opening day or month.
A Growing Florida Footprint
RH, formerly known as Restoration Hardware before rebranding, was founded in 1979 and is headquartered near San Francisco, California. The company now operates more than 100 retail locations worldwide, including five galleries and four outlets already in Florida, according to Gulfshore Business. Its catalog spans furniture, lighting, textiles, rugs, bathware, décor, outdoor products, and baby, child and teen products, per RH's own website.
The Naples store isn't the only RH project drawing attention in the state this fall. WhatNow Orlando reported in September that RH plans to open an outlet store at the International Drive Value Center, suggesting the company is expanding its Florida presence on multiple fronts even as the flagship Naples gallery and restaurant remain under construction at Waterside Shops.
