A Monday afternoon fire at a Rialto apartment complex displaced more than a dozen families. No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross was assisting residents Tuesday, NBC Los Angeles reported.

The cause remained undetermined Tuesday as investigators assessed the damage and worked to establish what started the blaze, NBC Los Angeles reported.

Among those displaced were Andrew and Karina Villaseñor, who married on Saturday. NBC Los Angeles reported that they were running errands Monday when apartment management called Andrew about the fire. Karina’s wedding dress, worn two days earlier, was among the couple’s lost belongings, the station reported.

A separate fire on Cactus Avenue on Nov. 21, 2025, affected a 16-unit building and displaced 16 households, the Los Angeles Times reported. IECN reported that as many as 80 residents were displaced in that fire; the Rialto Unified School District and Red Cross opened Simpson Elementary as an evacuation site, and most families received hotel vouchers.

Rialto’s apartment inspection program

A 2016–2020 Rialto Fire Department strategic plan says the city implemented a Multi-Family Rental Housing Fire Inspection program in 2012. The cited plan detail does not specify how often apartment properties were inspected or what violations were found, according to the Rialto Fire Department strategic plan.
