Ric Flair was taken to a hospital Friday after falling outside a restaurant in Tampa, Florida, injuring his face and cutting open his head and eye in the process. The 77-year-old WWE Hall of Famer's fall came just hours after he revealed he was dealing with a blood clot in his leg, a diagnosis serious enough that his doctors had already limited his travel and forced him to cancel an upcoming convention appearance.
According to TMZ, Flair was hanging out at Wagamama in Tampa when he got up from the bar, leaving his phone and drink behind, and walked across the street. That's when he fell, injuring his face. As reported by the New York Post, emergency medical personnel loaded Flair into an ambulance and took him to the hospital.
The fall left Flair with a cut head and a bleeding eye, and he may also have suffered a concussion, per wrestlingnews.co. As of this report, there has been no official update on his condition.
A Scary Health Reveal Just Hours Earlier
Earlier the same day, Flair had announced he was dealing with a blood clot in his leg, per nodq.com. The revelation came alongside news that he was canceling a scheduled appearance at Washington State Horror Con in Seattle, with doctors having limited his travel to just three to four hours.
Flair explained that Seattle fell outside that range, telling fans he had to prioritize his health and recovery, according to the same nodq.com report. He said he was scheduled to undergo a procedure to strip the affected vein, which his doctors expected would allow him to be cleared for more travel afterward.
Flair Stresses the Seriousness of Blood Clots
In his message, Flair said blood clots can be serious, even life-threatening, and that he must follow medical advice. He pointed to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and his recent complications involving blood clots in his lungs as a reminder of just how serious the condition can be.
Flair's health scares are not new to fans who have followed his career closely. In 2017, he was put into a medically induced coma due to multiple organ failure, a frightening chapter that long preceded this week's fall. The wrestling icon had also said in May that he was dealing with health issues and was taking time to focus on his recovery.
A Legendary Career Overshadowed By Health Concerns
Flair, a two-time WWE Hall of Famer and 16-time world champion, remains one of the most recognizable figures in professional wrestling history. His latest hospitalization adds another uncertain chapter to a year already marked by health setbacks, with fans and fellow wrestlers now watching closely for any official word on his condition.
