Milford Marketplace is getting a new tenant with a taste for hot oil and thin crust. Riko's Pizza is coming to the former Plan B Burger space at the shopping center, with the town of Milford having issued building permits for the project.

The move was first reported by The Connecticut Scoop. The site has sat empty since Plan B closed its Milford location June 14 after 15 years in business, according to the same report.

What Riko's Is Bringing to the Table

Riko's has built its name on thin-crust, hot-oil tavern-style pizzas and its signature salad pies, per the Connecticut Scoop's earlier coverage of the chain's Ridgefield opening. The chain says it perfected that tavern-style recipe back in 2011, according to Riko's Pizza's own menu page, which describes the pies as 13 inches, cut into six slices, and made on an ultra-thin crust.

Beyond pizza, the Milford location's menu is expected to include salads, oven-baked wings, wraps, shareables, sliders and desserts, per the Connecticut Scoop report. Riko's website notes that its wings are never fried, always oven-roasted, and that the broader menu leans into meatballs, burrata and crisp salads alongside the pizza program. The Ridgefield build-out was planned to include an upstairs dining area and bar seating.

A Fast-Growing Chain

Riko's footprint has expanded quickly. At the time of its Ridgefield opening, the chain had seven locations in Connecticut.

That growth has been visible elsewhere in Connecticut this year. Riko's opened a corporate-owned restaurant at 955 Ethan Allen Highway in Ridgefield, taking over the former John's Best Pizza space, after the Milford Daily Voice reported plans for that location in March. That earlier reporting described a 3,000-square-foot upstairs dining area with 16 bar seats as part of the Ridgefield build-out.

What's Still Unknown in Milford

It's also not yet clear whether the Milford location will be corporate-owned or run under franchise, a distinction that has varied across Riko's other Connecticut openings. For now, Milford shoppers passing the old Plan B storefront can expect construction crews rather than a grand-opening date.
