A2 Artoberfest is back for its sixth year, but anyone who remembers browsing the fair along East Ann Street in Kerrytown will need new directions this time: the entire event has shifted to Main Street between Washington and William streets, with nearly 100 jury-selected artists set up for two days of fine art, food, and family activities in downtown Ann Arbor.

The relocation wasn't a stylistic choice. Organizers moved the fair from its usual Kerrytown location because of construction.

For those tracking the broader shift away from Kerrytown, Karen Bauer, executive director for the Guild of Artists and Artisans, discussed the move during an appearance at Local 4's Fourgrounds coffee shop, describing Artoberfest as a small, intimate art fair now in its sixth year, as reported by ClickOnDetroit. The fair runs Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, October 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in downtown Ann Arbor.

What's Actually For Sale and To Do

Fairgoers can expect jewelry, ceramics, prints, and photography spread across the Main Street footprint, alongside food, drinks, live entertainment, and hands-on activities, per the station's report. The new location falls within the Downtown Ann Arbor Social District, where designated drinks from participating businesses may be carried outdoors only in Commons Areas daily between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m., according to the Main Street Area Association.

Brighton-based artist couple Patti and Mark Mohrenweiser are the featured artists for 2026. Kids and families get their own draw too: local chalk artist David Zinn is scheduled to perform live chalk art demonstrations both Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., inviting fairgoers to draw alongside him on the pavement, according to the Ann Arbor Observer.

Hands-On Partners Bring the Crafting

Interactive programming extends well beyond chalk. Motawi Tileworks will let visitors glaze a special Sad Robot test tile, while the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum, Gutman Gallery, and the University of Michigan's Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies round out the activity partners, per The Guild of Artists & Artisans.

The Guild itself traces back to 1973, when it was established in Ann Arbor as an artist-run nonprofit membership association that grew out of a student-organized Free Fair movement in the early 1970s. Gutman Gallery is also an Artoberfest activity partner.

A Smaller Sibling to Ann Arbor's Summer Giant

Artoberfest is a small, intimate two-day event, while the Guild also produces the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair. The events give the Guild both a fall fair and a summer art fair.
