A new luxury resort is taking shape on 118 acres of forested ridgeline above Calistoga, and Rosewood is already opening the doors to reservations about five and a half months before guests can check in. Rosewood Calistoga is expected to welcome its first visitors in 2027, bringing 96 guestrooms, including 31 suites, along with a cluster of private villas and estate homes tucked into the hills at the northern end of Napa Valley.
The project sits at 515 Foothill Blvd. in Calistoga, according to Rosewood Hotels, and the company's own announcement describes the site as being nestled across those 118 acres of forested ridgeline. Rosewood Residences Calistoga, a separate but connected component of the development, will add 20 private villas and 13 estate homesites, according to the resort's press materials. Design studio Atelier Marsh is leading the architecture while carrying forward the original vision set by architect Ed Tuttle, per the same announcement.
A Spa, Two Pools and a Farm-to-Table Restaurant
Rosewood's plans call for a signature restaurant built around an earth-to-table approach, alongside a poolside eatery and an intimate cocktail bar, though specific names for those venues have not been made public, as One Mile at a Time notes. Wellness will run through an Asaya facility with six treatment rooms, an outdoor garden, hydrotherapy experiences and a fitness center, according to Rosewood. The resort will also feature two pools, with one set aside for adults and the other open to families, rounding out amenities aimed at both couples' getaways and multigenerational trips.
Beyond the main resort, One Mile at a Time reports that guest-room categories include an Estate King measuring 500 square feet and a Forest View Suite running closer to 1,000 square feet, giving a sense of the scale guests can expect across different room categories.
Leadership and a Napa Market on the Rise
Rosewood named Daniel Simon as managing director of the property on August 5, 2026, according to Hotel Online. Simon previously led Rosewood Phnom Penh, which ranked No. 30 on Travel + Leisure's 2024 list of the 100 best hotels in the world during his tenure there, the outlet reported. Hotel Online's announcement describes the Calistoga property as having 95 guestrooms and suites paired with more than 12,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor gathering space — figures that differ from Rosewood's own press release, which cites 96 guestrooms with 31 suites and more than 20,000 square feet of event space. Hoodline could not independently resolve the discrepancy between the two counts.
The resort arrives as Napa County's hotel market shows signs of strengthening. Countywide occupancy averaged 64.6% in 2025, a 2.6% increase over 2024, according to the Napa Valley Register. The average daily room rate climbed 0.9% to $422.52 over the same period, and the paper reported that high-end luxury properties in the valley saw occupancy jump 4.4% — a notably sharper rise than the market overall. Napa's 2.6% occupancy gain outpaced most nearby wine country markets, trailing only Monterey County's 2.7% increase while Sonoma, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties were flat or down, the Register reported. Looking ahead, the paper noted that occupancy is expected to be fairly flat in 2026, with room rates projected to grow 1.4% as additional hotel supply comes online.
Early Bookings, Rosewood Elite Perks
One Mile at a Time reports that Rosewood Calistoga is accepting bookings for stays starting April 15, 2027, and that the property is bookable exclusively through Rosewood Elite travel advisors until the public booking window opens November 4, 2026. According to the outlet, Rosewood Elite bookings currently include a guaranteed room upgrade based on availability, a $90 daily breakfast credit, a $125 hotel credit once per stay, and valet parking with a welcome amenity. Starting rates are listed at $2,100 to $2,500 per night depending on season, per One Mile at a Time's reporting — though other accounts of the property's rates and reservation timeline, including a figure of roughly $2,000 per night attributed to Simon, have circulated with lower confidence and have not been independently confirmed by Hoodline.
Rosewood Calistoga will join an already crowded field of high-end Napa Valley properties, including Alila, Four Seasons, Auberge du Soleil, Solage and Stanly Ranch, according to One Mile at a Time, whose article also describes Alila Napa Valley as a strong option for travelers looking to redeem points. With luxury occupancy already outpacing the broader market, the new resort's 2027 debut will test whether Calistoga's high end can keep absorbing new supply at the rates owners are banking on.
