Ryder System, Inc. has expanded its commercial truck rental and maintenance facility in Roseville, Michigan, adding 11,700 square feet to a site that now serves manufacturers, automotive suppliers, distributors and transportation companies across Metro Detroit. The upgraded location at 27555 Groesbeck Highway, near I-696 and I-94, is built to support fleet maintenance and rental operations throughout Macomb County.

According to Ryder's facility listing, the expansion boosts service capacity for suppliers, manufacturers and distributors in the region, with tech-enabled fleet solutions meant to give customers speed, visibility and more convenient access to rental and maintenance services. The project was also detailed by citybiz, which reported that Ryder did not specify how many positions are tied to the expanded footprint.

What the Expanded Bays and Fuel Island Add

The Roseville site now features nine truck workstations spread across four drive-through service bays plus an additional half-bay, according to Trucknews. The outlet also reported a two-lane fuel island accessible to customers around the clock, along with two acres of dedicated parking, commercial truck rental services and a self-service check-in kiosk.

The facility also incorporates RyderGyde fleet management technology, which is designed to give customers vehicle information and maintenance insights, per the same report. A companion rental platform tied to the location offers real-time vehicle availability, digital booking and centralized rental management.

Ryder's Take on the Detroit Market

Tom Havens, who serves as president of Fleet Management Solutions at Ryder System, Inc., said the investment will help businesses that depend on the region's supply chain. “This investment allows us to better support the businesses that keep products, parts, and materials moving throughout the region,” Havens said in the Trucknews report. Havens has also described Detroit as one of the country's major manufacturing markets, underscoring why Ryder is putting resources into the area.

Ryder is recruiting diesel technicians, rental representatives and customer service professionals for the Roseville location, though the company has not detailed how many roles the expansion itself will create. The Roseville maintenance shop operates from 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Eastern time.

A Broader Push to Add Rental Capacity

The Roseville expansion lands as Ryder works to rebuild rental capacity after a period of pullback. The company had previously cut the size of its rental fleet by 30%, but as freight conditions have improved, Ryder is increasing its tractor rental fleet by 10% in the fourth quarter of 2026, according to Transport Topics. The same report noted that rental fleet utilization climbed to 77% from 70%, while Ryder's Fleet Management Solutions division posted a 10% revenue increase to $1.616 billion in the third quarter of 2026.

Ryder also raised its 2026 forecast for rental capital expenditures to $500 million from $200 million, per the Transport Topics report. The Roseville project is not the company's only recent facility investment: Ryder opened a new 20,000-square-foot full-service truck rental and maintenance facility in McDonough, Georgia, in December 2025, part of a broader pattern of adding regional service capacity.

Ryder has said the goal of the Roseville investment is to improve maintenance availability and reduce vehicle downtime for customers in the area. The company operates across the United States, Canada and Mexico, serving customers in more than 20 industries.
