Sacramento is waking Wednesday, with a high near 98 expected. A Heat Advisory remains in effect through 10 p.m. Friday as the capital region moves through another stretch of dangerous afternoon heat.
Another Hot Afternoon, With Little Wind Relief
The forecast calls for a high near 98 Wednesday, followed by another hot, sunny day near 100 on Thursday. Friday should remain hot, with upper-90s and low-100s heat continuing through the day, while the advisory remains in place through Friday night. The region is facing widespread Moderate HeatRisk, with pockets of Major HeatRisk, according to the National Weather Service.
Overnight lows near 63 degrees Wednesday and 62 degrees Thursday will offer some relief, although the nights will remain warmer than a typical fall cooldown. The advisory's Friday expiration is a substantive update from Hoodline's earlier coverage, which had the heat easing sooner.
Weekend Temperatures Drop Into The 70s
A possible cooldown could arrive over the weekend, with temperatures easing Saturday and Sunday.
The broader outlook includes the possibility of unsettled weather. The National Weather Service says some forecast solutions indicate breezy to gusty north-to-east winds developing Sunday into Monday, bringing elevated fire-weather concerns to drier parts of the region after several hot, drying days.
Heat Safety Still Matters Through Friday
Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning when possible and limit strenuous outdoor activity to the early morning or evening. Lightweight, loose-fitting clothing can help, and officials recommend checking on older adults, neighbors and anyone without reliable cooling.
Pets and children should never be left in parked vehicles, even during a quick errand. With afternoon temperatures near 100 degrees and only light winds offering little relief, the safest plan is to treat the hottest part of the day as a stay-cool window.
