A Silver Alert is out for an 83-year-old San Antonio man with a cognitive impairment who has not been seen since Tuesday night. Catarino Salinas Jr. was last spotted around 8:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Colfax Street, and authorities say they believe his disappearance poses a credible threat to his health and safety.
Authorities issued the alert Wednesday, according to CBS Austin, which reported that Salinas has a cognitive impairment and has been missing since Tuesday night. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that he was last seen at the Colfax Street location at that time, per the same account.
Salinas is described as a white man standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, with white hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, jeans, and — in a detail that stands out among the few facts investigators have released — just one white camouflage shoe.
Conflicting Reports on Timing and Spelling
Not every outlet is telling the same story. KSAT reported that the Texas Department of Public Safety issued a Silver Alert for an 83-year-old man who was last seen Sunday afternoon on San Antonio's North Side, a timeline that differs from the Tuesday night Colfax Street account described elsewhere.
There is also disagreement over the man's surname. The Katy News identified him as Catarino Salas Jr. rather than Catarino Salinas Jr., though that outlet matched the Colfax Street location and the 8:30 p.m. Tuesday timeframe reported elsewhere.
How to Help
Anyone who sees Salinas is asked to call 911 immediately. People with information about his whereabouts should contact the San Antonio Police Department at 210-207-7660.
