Heat Advisory Arrives Thursday
The bigger change arrives Thursday, when temperatures climb into the upper 80s to lower 90s across most coastal and valley locations and a National Weather Service heat advisory begins at 10 a.m. The advisory runs through 8 p.m. Saturday.
Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 80s to lower 90s across most coastal and valley locations Thursday and remain well above normal Saturday. Dry air and Santa Ana winds make the heat feel more serious and increase fire-weather concerns in wind-prone areas.
Dry Winds Add Fire Weather Concerns
The Santa Ana pattern is expected to be strongest Thursday and Friday, with the most powerful gusts focused around the region’s usual wind corridors. Residents should secure loose outdoor items, avoid activities that could create sparks, drink plenty of fluids, and check on older neighbors and others more vulnerable to heat illness.
Cooler Weather Finally Returns
The heat eases Sunday, with cooling continuing through Tuesday. There is about a 30 percent chance of showers as the system passes Tuesday or Wednesday.
