Concrete is pouring and walls are climbing at the southeast corner of Rattlesnake Hammock Road and Collier Boulevard, where Costco is building its second Collier County warehouse. The more than 162,700-square-foot store, approved unanimously by county commissioners in October 2025, is targeted to open this fall, though the retailer still has not announced a specific date.
According to naplesnews.com, the project will include 816 parking spaces along with a free-standing fueling station. Costco closed on the East Naples property after county approval, paying $19,387,500 for the land on October 21, 2025, the outlet reports. The new location will be Collier County's second Costco, joining the chain's existing store off Naples Boulevard, north of Pine Ridge Road and west of Airport-Pulling Road, which opened in 1999.
Crews Racing Against a Fast-Build Clock
Site visits described concrete being poured throughout the property, with a couple of walls already standing, the same report notes. That pace tracks with how Costco typically builds: the retailer's architects at MG2 have said it takes 110 days to construct a Costco store once construction actually begins, per the outlet's reporting.
Still, nobody outside the company seems to know exactly when shoppers can expect to walk through the doors. As of October 12, Costco listed 14 U.S. locations as coming soon, but the Naples warehouse was not among them, the report states. A Costco spokesperson told the Naples Daily News that the company does not comment on future warehouses until it is ready to share details, which is typically two to three months before opening.
Fueling Station Details Remain Murky
Plans for the site's gas station have been described differently across outlets. Naplesnews.com reports the station will include 12 pumps capable of serving 24 vehicles at a time, while Gulfshore Business cites a figure of 24 fueling positions that could eventually expand to 40. The two accounts have not been reconciled.
The project did not sail through without pushback. Gulfshore Business reported that some residents raised safety, traffic and flooding concerns during the approval process. Those worries were echoed in reporting from WINK News, which detailed the drainage and storm-water questions that surfaced before commissioners voted.
A Deal Struck With Hacienda Lakes Neighbors
To address some of those concerns, Costco reached an agreement with residents of the neighboring Hacienda Lakes community. Per WINK News, the retailer agreed to install additional and enhanced pedestrian-safety signage at all crosswalks near the site. Costco also committed to retaining the brick Hacienda Lakes sign at the corner along with the native vegetation behind it, and to make a one-time $35,000 payment to the community for landscape enhancements or other improvements chosen by residents.
Part of a Bigger Expansion Push
The East Naples project fits into a much larger national build-out. Costco plans to open 33 new warehouses in fiscal year 2027, including five relocations, as The Hill reported, citing the company's goal of adding 30 net-new warehouses every year. Of that fiscal 2027 slate, four locations are set for Europe, five for Canada and one for Mexico, according to the same report. Among the domestic locations already announced are Lee's Summit, Missouri, targeted for this month, and Chandler, Arizona, targeted for next month.
For now, East Naples residents have construction noise and rising walls to watch rather than a confirmed grand-opening date. The Miami Herald first reported on the progress at the Rattlesnake Hammock Road site, noting the steady pace of work even as Costco keeps its opening plans close to the vest.
