Seguin Today reported that police seized 281 grams of methamphetamine, 49.14 grams of cocaine, 21.65 grams of heroin, about five ounces of marijuana, eight firearms and approximately $3,900 during Operation SHAKEDOWN. The outlet said the operation resulted in 18 arrests, 23 state criminal charges, nine cleared warrants and three federal indictments.
The seven-month probe targeted alleged mid-level drug distribution, according to Seguin Police Chief Jason Brady, as reported by Seguin Today. The report said police identified some people arrested as confirmed criminal street-gang members and others as suspected associates. Police have said additional arrests may follow as the investigation continues.
How the investigation developed
Brady said the department established its Criminal Apprehension Street Enforcement unit, or C.A.S.E., in 2023 as a proactive street-crimes team addressing quality-of-life issues, gang activity and local drug sales. The unit’s Operation Low Key focused on street-level dealers, while SHAKEDOWN targeted mid-level distribution, according to the Seguin Today account.
Operation Low Key, completed in November 2025, involved 21 felony drug arrests and 31 felony charges across Seguin, New Braunfels and Guadalupe County, KENS 5 reported. Seguin Today reported that the Drug Enforcement Administration assisted with Operation SHAKEDOWN and that its three federal indictments involved narcotics trafficking and weapons offenses.
Statewide overdose trends
Texas drug-poisoning deaths increased by 68% from 2019 to 2024, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. That statewide figure does not establish how deaths changed in Guadalupe County or which substances were most often involved there, and it does not show a connection to this investigation.
