A Seneca man remains in jail pending a bond hearing after deputies say he kicked in a back door, forced his way into a home, and assaulted two women while four children were inside. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as 35-year-old Clarence Curtis Hendrix Jr., who has a listed address on Davis Mill Park Drive, and said he was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center under a temporary custody order following his arrest overnight.

According to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office

, Uniform Patrol Bureau deputies responded to an address on S. Oak Street near Garrison Road and Seneca after learning that Hendrix and an adult woman inside the residence had gotten into a verbal argument. A second adult woman at the home called 911, and deputies say Hendrix was asked to leave the property before the situation escalated.

Instead of leaving, deputies allege Hendrix kicked in a door at the back of the residence and forced his way inside, where he assaulted both women. Four children were present in the home at the time, authorities say.

Deputies Say Suspect Fled Before They Arrived, Then Hid in Kudzu

Hendrix had left the residence before deputies arrived on scene, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies ultimately located him hiding in kudzu near Wells Highway and S. Oak Street, with assistance from K-9 Deputy Grizzly. Authorities say Hendrix ignored repeated instructions to surrender peacefully and be taken into custody.

The sheriff’s office said Hendrix was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center.

Multiple Charges Filed, Including First-Degree Burglary

The sheriff’s office said Hendrix faces multiple charges.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said it is continuing its investigation and will not release information that could identify the four minors who were present during the incident. No bond amount or hearing outcome had been reported as of Friday.

Separate Oconee County Case Earlier This Year

The Hendrix arrest is not the only recent Oconee County case involving burglary and domestic-violence allegations. In a separate incident this past July, FOX Carolina reported that 42-year-old James Christopher Brown was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on first-degree burglary and first-degree domestic-violence charges after deputies responded to a disturbance at a home on Corinth Drive near Seneca. Deputies alleged Brown entered the home without consent while armed with brass knuckles and assaulted a woman by shoving and grabbing her, with two teenagers, one a minor, present at the time; the sheriff’s office said that investigation remained active as of the report. That case is distinct from the Hendrix arrest described in this article.
