A personalized jewelry brand known for custom name necklaces and handwriting pendants is set to open a new storefront at Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance, with a grand opening targeted for mid-November. The company, Caitlyn Minimalist, will occupy a spot on the mall's main level near Macy's Women's, adding to a wave of new retail arriving at the South Bay shopping center this fall.
Michael Holcombe, director of operations at Caitlyn Minimalist, confirmed the mid-November timeline, according to WhatNow Los Angeles. The Torrance location would become the company's sixth store in California, joining existing shops at Brea Mall, Irvine Spectrum Center, The Shops at Mission Viejo, Westfield Topanga and Galleria at Roseville, per the retailer's own store listings on its website.
A Brand Built on Handwriting and Keepsakes
Caitlyn Minimalist was founded by Kate Kim, who serves as the company's founder and CEO. Kim started the business after designing a necklace featuring her grandfather's handwriting taken from a letter, and friends and family who saw the piece began requesting their own personalized versions, according to the WhatNow report. That early demand grew into a company that now focuses on sentimental jewelry sold at accessible prices.
The brand's current lineup includes custom name necklaces, birthstone pieces, handwriting necklaces, fingerprint rings and friendship bracelets with secret messages, according to Orange Coast. Caitlyn Minimalist handles its jewelry production in-house, with a process that spans design development, 3D modeling, cutting, molding, assembly, polishing and packaging, per the WhatNow report.
The company's own stores page describes each location as designed to reflect its community, pairing the brand's signature minimalist jewelry with handpicked ceramics, local art and natural elements, according to Caitlyn Minimalist. At select locations, shoppers can book a private, one-hour styling session with a dedicated stylist, the company's site notes.
From Etsy Shop to Mall Storefront
Caitlyn Minimalist's retail footprint has expanded steadily in recent years. The company opened its Irvine Spectrum location in 2024, according to the Orange Coast report, building on momentum that traced back to the brand's earlier years selling online. In a 2021 interview with The Cut, the company said it had reached 1 million sales that spring and had grown to about 30 employees, with plans to move into a larger office that September.
That growth was driven in large part by word of mouth and viral social media moments, the same interview noted: a mom-blog Facebook post featuring the brand's Handwriting Bracelet drew roughly 200,000 shares, while a TikTok video brought in about 7 million views. Those figures reflect the company's standing five years ago rather than its current scale, but they help explain how a jewelry line born from a single handwritten necklace grew into a multi-state mall presence.
Caitlyn Minimalist's most recent grand opening, at Westfield Topanga in July, offered a preview of what Torrance shoppers might expect. That event, held on the mall's second floor, included exclusive shopping access, small bites and photo opportunities throughout the launch, according to event details published by Chicmi. The first 50 guests who made a purchase that day received sample gifts from L'Occitane, per the same listing.
Del Amo's Bigger Retail Shakeup
Caitlyn Minimalist's arrival is part of a broader round of new tenants heading to Del Amo Fashion Center, located at 3525 W. Carson St. in Torrance. The mall is adding six new tenants in total, according to the Los Angeles Business Journal, with most expected to open in November.
Among the new additions are Pop Mart's first South Bay location and ThirdLove's first Southern California store, the Business Journal reported. Del Amo expects to welcome both Pop Mart and ThirdLove in November, according to the mall's own announcement cited by WhatNow. Skincare retailer Olive Young also plans to open a first-floor store between Fabletics and Garage, while the Hirono After Dark pop-up is set to remain open through early January 2027, per the WhatNow report.
