Shake Shack is planting its flag in Southern Indiana, with construction now underway at 1592 Veterans Parkway in Jeffersonville for a new restaurant slated to open in 2027. The 3,200-square-foot location will employ around 50 team members once it's up and running, according to officials.

The project was first reported by Louisville Business First on December 17, 2025, when Jeffersonville city officials approved plans for Shake Shack to build at the Jeffersonville Town Center commercial development off Veterans Parkway. The Courier-Journal later reported on the project. The new restaurant is planned for Jeffersonville Town Center.

A Dual-Pronged Push Across the River

The Jeffersonville store isn't an isolated move. The planned Louisville-area restaurant will be inside Oxmoor Center in East Louisville and will not have a drive-thru, the station's report notes. Taken together, the Jeffersonville store at Jeffersonville Town Center and the East Louisville store at Oxmoor Center give the New York-based chain coverage on both sides of the Ohio River, representing what the outlet describes as a major brand expansion into the Southern Indiana market as part of a dual-pronged entry into the greater Louisville metropolitan area.

Shake Shack's history in Indiana actually goes back further than this latest push. The chain made its Indiana brand debut in April 2021 when it opened a store in Fishers, Indiana, which featured the company's first “Shack Track” digital drive-up pick-up lane, according to WTHR. Beyond the planned Jeffersonville site, Shake Shack currently operates Indiana locations in downtown Indianapolis and at The Fashion Mall at Keystone, with another location in development at Clay Terrace in Carmel, per Visit Indy.

Why Veterans Parkway Made the Cut

The planned location is on Veterans Parkway. The 180-acre Jeffersonville Town Center development serves a regional trade market exceeding 400,000 residents across Clark County and the greater Louisville area, according to Northmarq.

A Restaurant Management Listing

A shift-manager role appears on the Shake Shack Careers site.

Plenty remains unsettled as the project moves forward. An exact 2027 opening date hasn't been set, and it's unclear what kind of traffic impact the new Shack and its neighboring retail additions will have along Veterans Parkway during peak hours. For now, Southern Indiana diners will have to watch the construction progress off Veterans Parkway and wait for Shake Shack to set a firmer timeline.
