An attempt to stop a vehicle suspected of narcotics sales on Fairview Avenue in Butler turned into a two-mile police chase late Wednesday night that ended in the parking lot of a dispensary, with two Sharon men now facing drug and evading arrest charges. Christian Fonteboa, 22, and Antoine Baker, 29, allegedly bolted from their vehicle and tried to run on foot before officers caught up with them.
According to ButlerRadio.com, officers tried to stop a vehicle suspected of narcotics sales in the 100 block of Fairview Avenue around 11:30 p.m. on October 28, but the occupants took off instead of pulling over. What followed was a pursuit covering more than two miles through the city before the vehicle came to a stop at the Sunnyside Dispensary parking lot.
Once the car stopped, Fonteboa and Baker reportedly got out and tried to flee on foot, but police caught both men at the scene. Officers say they recovered nearly 14 grams of illegal narcotics between the men and the vehicle, according to the same report.
Charges Stack Up for Both Men
Fonteboa and Baker were each charged with three counts of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture and deliver, along with evading arrest on foot, the outlet reports. Fonteboa alone is also facing additional charges that include fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, resisting arrest, recklessly endangering another person, and driving offenses, per the same account.
Bail was set noticeably higher for Fonteboa than for his co-defendant. Fonteboa's bail was set at $200,000, while Baker's was set at $100,000, the report notes. Both men, described in the article as Mercer County residents, were placed in Butler County Prison following their arrests.
What Comes Next in Court
No preliminary hearing date had been scheduled as of the report. Case updates for Fonteboa and Baker, once filed, would be searchable through the Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System's public docket portal, which allows anyone to look up criminal court records across the state. Court scheduling announcements for the county are also posted on the Butler County, Pennsylvania website.
