Part of San Marco Boulevard was taped off Wednesday night after a reported shooting with injuries sent Jacksonville police to the stretch of road between Balis Park and a nearby shopping center. Officers were still working the scene as of around 9:30 p.m., with the investigation very much active and few details yet confirmed.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was on the scene of the reported shooting in the San Marco neighborhood Wednesday night, according to News4JAX. Around 9:30 p.m., police had taped off a section of San Marco Boulevard between the shopping center and Balis Park, the station reported.
The shopping center sitting along that taped-off stretch includes a Starbucks and Electric Dough Pizza Co., per the same report. Beyond the location and the fact that injuries were involved, the station's account offered few other specifics, noting only that the situation was still developing as officers worked the scene.
What's Still Unknown
News4JAX said it was working to learn more about the shooting as the investigation continued Wednesday night. No information on a victim's condition, a possible suspect, or what led up to the shooting has been confirmed.
San Marco has seen other shootings reported over the past couple of years, including a man shot in the chest on Westmont Street, according to a separate report from Action News Jax, who in that case was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. Those past incidents are separate matters, however, with no confirmed connection to Wednesday night's reported shooting near Balis Park.
Hoodline will update this story as more information becomes available from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
