A groundbreaking for a shared fire station and sheriff's operations center in Silverleaf was held in March 2026. The roughly 20,000-square-foot facility at 7885 Saint Johns Parkway is designed to house both St. Johns County Fire Rescue and criminal investigators from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office under one roof.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue reported the construction progress in a St. Johns County social media update titled “Silverleaf Facility Taking Shape.” The facility is described as serving residents in Silverleaf and surrounding areas along County Road 210 and State Road 16A.

What the Facility Will Include

County materials describe the project as an approximately $13 million, 20,000-square-foot public safety facility, according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue. The fire side of the operation is expected to include a fire engine, tower truck, tanker, rescue unit and a battalion chief, with staffing of approximately 33 firefighters spread across three shifts, 11 per shift. The Sheriff's Office portion will include space for the agency's Criminal Investigations Division, the county's project page states.

A separate account from Action News Jax described the building's size as 19,965 square feet, slightly different from the county's rounder figure of nearly 20,000 square feet. Either way, the facility is intended to give the fast-growing Silverleaf area and its neighbors a dedicated public safety presence along the County Road 210 and State Road 16A corridor.

How the Project Got Here

The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners approved an agreement with DiMare Construction Company on December 17, 2024, according to county clerk's records. The initial authorization included Phase I design services and guaranteed maximum price development valued at $989,888, per the same meeting minutes.

Commissioners followed up by approving early-works construction on April 15, 2025, clearing the way for clearing and rough grading to begin ahead of full construction, county clerk records show. That early-works change order with DiMare Construction Company was valued at $2,288,800.

Part of a Countywide Expansion

The Silverleaf complex is not a standalone project. St. Johns County announced in April 2024 that it was building four new fire stations and renovating two additional existing stations as part of a broader public safety plan, the county said in a statement. Jacksonville Today reported that the county intends to build four similar combined fire-and-sheriff facilities over five years, with the Silverleaf site serving as the second in that sequence.

The opening timeline remains uncertain. County materials posted ahead of a public meeting stated that completion was expected by the end of 2026, while Action News Jax reported the facility is expected to open in 2027.
