A driver slammed into a house in Simpsonville on Thursday afternoon and ran off before deputies could catch up, setting off a search that pulled in help from a neighboring county. No injuries have been reported, and deputies searched for the driver after the crash.
According to FOX Carolina News, Greenville County officials said the crash happened at a home along Renwood Road. WYFF4 also reported that the crash happened on Renwood Road.
WYFF4's report describes the events before the crash: deputies tried to pull over a car around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, and the driver took off instead of stopping. Deputies said they did not pursue the vehicle, but the driver kept going until crashing into the home and then fleeing on foot, per the station's report.
No Pursuit, No Injuries, But a Big Response
Despite the driver's escape, deputies emphasized they never initiated a chase, the same report notes. No one was hurt in the crash, deputies said, though the force of the response on the ground told its own story — fourteen deputies were on scene working the search, according to FOX Carolina.
FOX Carolina reported that the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office was called to assist in locating the suspect.
Suspect No Longer at Large
WYFF4 reported that two juvenile suspects, ages 15 and 16, were detained and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. Neither outlet has released a description of the suspect or the vehicle involved, and the extent of damage to the home has not been detailed in either report. Hoodline will update this story as more information becomes available.
