Las Vegas is opening October with clear skies, dry air and a stretch of afternoon temperatures hovering near 100 degrees. The city’s first week of the month looks more like lingering summer than fall, with sunshine dominating and rain staying almost entirely out of the forecast.

Early Thursday morning was clear and around 66 degrees, with relatively dry air across the valley. The National Weather Service in Las Vegas is calling for sunny skies, a high near 95 degrees and light east-northeast winds Thursday, with no rain expected.

Heat Holds Through The Weekend

Friday and Saturday should both reach about 96 degrees under mostly sunny skies, while overnight lows remain in the mid-70s. Sunday is expected to be the hottest day of the stretch, with a high near 97 degrees and another clear, rain-free forecast.

Monday brings only a slight cooldown, with a high near 95 degrees and a small 2% chance of rain. Nights will be more manageable, dipping into the low to mid-70s, but the afternoon sun will still pack plenty of heat for anyone spending time outdoors.

Quiet Weather With Little Relief From The Sun

Forecasters expect above-normal temperatures to continue into next week, with highs near 96 degrees Tuesday and 97 degrees Wednesday. A weak disturbance Sunday and Monday could briefly increase winds and shave a few degrees off temperatures, but no significant impacts are expected.

For outdoor plans, early morning and evening will be the more comfortable windows. Afternoon conditions will be sunny, very dry and hot, so water and shade remain smart accessories even though the calendar says fall.
