Houston is heading into one last hot, sticky day before a strong cold front flips the script. Thursday follows an overnight low near 70, with temperatures expected to climb to around 90 before cooler air arrives late tonight and Friday.
Isolated Showers Could Pop Up Thursday
Thursday will be partly sunny with a slight chance of isolated showers. The rain chance is only about 20%, so most of Houston should stay dry, while southeast winds run around 5 to 10 mph.
The front is expected to move through late Thursday night or Friday morning, bringing a noticeable wind shift and a much cooler feel. The National Weather Service Houston/Galveston says north-wind gusts could exceed 30 knots Friday, with scattered showers possible before the front clears.
Weekend Brings Fall-Like Temperatures
Friday’s high should reach only about 76 degrees, with temperatures falling during the afternoon as north winds strengthen. Friday evening will be breezy, and Friday night will be partly cloudy, with lows near 55—an abrupt change from Thursday’s heat.
Saturday looks sunny with a high near 69, followed by a mostly clear night around 54 degrees. Sunday should remain sunny and milder, with a high near 73, while temperatures gradually rebound to the upper 70s Monday and the low to mid-80s for most of next week.
Gulf Winds Turn Hazardous
A Gale Watch is in effect for parts of the Gulf waters from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon as north winds increase and seas rise. Even away from the coast, the forecast calls for breezy conditions and advises caution with outdoor burning Friday into Saturday.
