Baltimore is heading into a wet, windy Sunday, with rain already moving through early and a high near 70. The bigger concern comes later: thunderstorms could bring damaging wind gusts and a brief tornado threat, while soaking rain raises the risk of ponding and nuisance flooding.
Rain Sticks Around Through Sunday Night
Showers are expected through late morning and afternoon, with the steadiest rain before 5 p.m. East winds will run 12 to 16 mph, with gusts up to 28 mph, and total rainfall could reach 1 to 2 inches in Baltimore. The National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington says the remnants of Isaias will help fuel another round of showers and thunderstorms Sunday evening; an additional half-inch to three-quarters of an inch is possible overnight, with lows near 63.
Storm Risk Rises As The Day Goes On
The afternoon setup is the part to watch, especially for residents planning waterfront time, outdoor events or travel. The weather service says organized storms could produce damaging wind gusts and a couple of brief tornadoes, while the heaviest rain may create difficult driving and localized flooding. A coastal flood watch is in effect for Anne Arundel County, and high-tide water levels may run high along parts of the region's shoreline. If thunder arrives, head indoors and never drive through water covering a roadway.
Monday Brings A Quick Reset
Showers could linger into Monday morning before tapering off by about 10 a.m. Skies should brighten, with a high near 74, then turn mostly clear Monday night with a low around 58. Tuesday and Wednesday look like the reward for making it through the soggy stretch: sunny and unusually warm, with highs near 79 and 81.
Cooler By The End Of The Week
Thursday should stay mostly sunny near 70, but the pattern turns more unsettled again Thursday night into Friday, when rain showers have a 40% chance and the high reaches about 72. Saturday looks cooler and breezier, with a high near 62 and northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph. The latest update is a sharper version of Hoodline's earlier weekend forecast, which had already flagged Sunday as the weather trouble spot.
