Sonic the Hedgehog is revving into Chinatown Vegas, and he brought chili dogs. The Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe opens Saturday at 5600 Spring Mountain Road, Suite A, kicking off an opening weekend packed with themed food, exclusive merchandise and a meet-and-greet with the blue blur himself.

The pop-up is the latest collaboration between Sega and L.A. restaurateur Andy Nguyen of The Lunchbox Group, according to neon.reviewjournal.com. The opening weekend, running Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day, includes giveaways and a scheduled meet-and-greet with Sonic the Hedgehog, the outlet reports.

A Vegas-Themed Menu of Chili Dogs and Fish and Chips

The Las Vegas menu leans into the city's identity, with items like the Vegas Casino Night Dog, Neon Palace Dog, Shadow's Ultimate Sandwich and Big's Tackle Box, per casino.org. Big's Tackle Box is a fish-and-chips plate built around beer-battered Icelandic cod, the same report notes. The Vegas Casino Night Dog, meanwhile, is topped with shaved prime rib and horseradish peppercorn crema, according to sonic-city.net.

Beyond the food, the Las Vegas location will feature Sonic-themed decorations, custom character packaging and merchandise exclusive to this particular pop-up, that same site reports. The first 35 customers who make a purchase each day will also receive a Sonic giveaway, limited to one per person, according to the report.

How Long Will the Cafe Stick Around?

Exactly how long the Speed Cafe will stay open in Chinatown Vegas isn't entirely clear. Casino.org reports that organizers haven't announced an end date for the Vegas run, while sonic-city.net reports the pop-up is expected to remain open daily through December 2026 — so Hoodline can't confirm a firm closing date either way.

A Pop-Up That's Already Raced Through Several Cities

This isn't Sonic's first stop. The Speed Cafe concept first launched in San Diego in 2023 and has since rolled into several cities, Hoodline previously reported. The traveling pop-up has blazed through San Diego and Chino Hills in California, then Katy, Texas, Atlanta, and, most recently, St. Louis, according to the casino.org report.

Earlier stops have drawn serious crowds. Previous Speed Cafe locations in San Diego, Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta have previously drawn long lines, as reported by St. Louis Magazine. At the St. Louis location, guests could play Sega games, snap photos and dine on food served in custom packaging.

The St. Louis version, which took over Nudo House on the Delmar Loop, ran from April 25 through June 28, operating daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., per the same report. That location was the first Sonic the Hedgehog Speed Cafe in Missouri and the seventh iteration overall, and it sold exclusive merchandise ranging from T-shirts and hoodies to mugs and hats, the magazine reported. Guests there also found locally themed dishes like the Arch City Hot Dog and E-123 Omega's Red Hot Revenge sandwich, Hoodline's earlier coverage noted.

Some past stops have also skipped ticketing altogether, letting fans walk right in rather than book ahead, and the original 2023 cafe offered vegan options and alternative sides, including a Chao Down Combo, according to sonicstadium.org. Whether those same policies carry over to the Chinatown Vegas location hasn't been confirmed. For now, fans eager to see Sonic in person have their shot starting Saturday, when the gates at Spring Mountain Road officially open for business.
