
A speeding pickup truck rolled over multiple times on Springfield's Lagonda Avenue on Saturday night, ejecting three men and a four-year-old girl after slamming into two utility poles, according to a crash report. Two of the men suffered serious injuries and were flown to a Dayton-area trauma center, while the child and a third man were taken to a hospital with suspected minor injuries.
Officers and medics responded just after 9:30 p.m. to the crash near the intersection of Lagonda Avenue and Tecumseh Avenue, according to the crash report cited by eagledayton.com. The report states a gray Dodge Ram was traveling southwest on Lagonda Avenue when the driver tried to negotiate a curve south of Tecumseh Avenue and lost control.
Truck Struck Two Poles Before Flipping
The truck was speeding at the time, the crash report said. The driver failed to maintain control, ran off the road and struck a utility pole before going up a steep embankment, where it rolled over continuously, per the same account.
After tumbling down the embankment, the Dodge Ram hit a second utility pole, then spun and came to rest on its driver's side. All four occupants were ejected from the truck during the sequence of impacts, according to the report cited by WHIO TV.
Two Men Flown to Miami Valley Hospital
A 34-year-old man and a 54-year-old man suffered serious injuries in the crash and were both flown to Miami Valley Hospital. A 33-year-old man and the four-year-old girl were taken by medics to an area hospital with suspected minor injuries, according to WHIO-TV.
No further details about the occupants or the circumstances leading up to the crash have been released. The crash remains under investigation, per the report.
