Richmond’s Halloween forecast calls for a clear, cool start Saturday, with temperatures near 48 degrees in the morning. Mostly sunny skies should bring the high to about 66, with a light north wind and virtually no chance of rain—comfortable conditions for afternoon plans and trick-or-treating.
Cool Start, Comfortable Trick-or-Treating
Temperatures are expected to move through the 50s late Saturday morning and reach the mid-60s in the afternoon. North winds of 5 to 7 mph could make the early hours feel cooler, but the forecast stays dry through sunset.
Clouds should increase after dark as temperatures drop to around 43 Saturday night. With rain not expected, an extra layer may be useful for evening Halloween activities.
Clouds Build While The Weekend Stays Dry
Sunday brings partly sunny skies and a high near 67, then another cool night around 43. Monday is expected to be partly sunny and mild, with a high around 68; dry weather is forecast to continue through Wednesday.
Warmup Peaks Before Rain Chances Return
The warmup is forecast to peak Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs near 74 and 76, respectively. Rain chances return Wednesday night, followed by a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday and a 50% chance of showers Friday.
Halloween Temperatures in Context
According to the National Weather Service Wakefield, Richmond’s October 31 climate normals are a high of 66°F and a low of 43°F—very close to the temperatures in this year’s forecast.
Axios Richmond reported that the 2023 Halloween forecast called for a high struggling to reach 50°F and temperatures in the 40s around trick-or-treat time. That was a forecast, not an observed record, and does not establish Richmond’s Halloween temperature or precipitation extremes.
Despite the late-week rain threat, highs are forecast near 75 Thursday and 73 Friday. The outlook points to a sunny Halloween, a dry start to November and several unusually mild days before unsettled weather returns.
