Former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett has announced his first North American tour dates for 2027, a 17-concert run stretching from Atlanta to Québec City between April 10 and May 6. Billed as Best of Genesis & Solo Gems, the tour trades last year's album-specific format for a career-spanning setlist pulling from both his Genesis years and his decades-deep solo catalog.
The tour was announced by Ultimate Classic Rock, which reports the trek includes nearly 20 North American shows in total and will feature music from throughout Hackett's career. Hackett said the new show will celebrate Genesis fan favorites alongside solo classics, calling it simply “a blast.” The run arrives 13 years after he first launched his Genesis Revisited concept onstage in 2013, a tour that produced an acclaimed live recording at London's Royal Albert Hall, according to antiMusic.
From Atlanta to the Northeast Corridor
The North American leg kicks off in Atlanta at the Center Stage Theater on April 10, 2027, before moving through Washington, D.C.'s Warner Theatre on April 13. Fans in the Philadelphia area get two chances to catch the show, with back-to-back nights at the Scottish Rite Auditorium in Collingswood, New Jersey, on April 15 and 16, followed by a stop at the Lansdowne Theater on April 17.
Connecticut also gets a two-night stand, with shows at the Ridgefield Playhouse on April 19 and 20, per the tour's schedule. The band then rolls into New York City's Town Hall on April 21, Albany's Egg – Hart Theatre on April 23, and Boston's Berklee Performance Center on April 24, before heading to the Goodyear Theater in Akron on April 27.
Buffalo, Ithaca and the Canadian Leg
Hackett will play the UB Center for the Arts in Buffalo on April 28, followed by the State Theatre of Ithaca on April 29. From there the tour crosses into Canada, with stops at Massey Hall in Toronto on May 1 and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa on May 2.
Montréal's Théâtre St-Denis hosts the band on May 4, setting up the tour's final show on May 6 at Palais Montcalm in Québec City — a date that stands apart from the rest of the run. That finale will feature Hackett performing alongside the Québec Symphony Orchestra under conductor Bradley Thachuk, who has led all of Hackett's previous orchestral concert projects, according to the tour schedule posted on Hackett's website.
Band Lineup and the Road to North America
Hackett's touring band for the 2027 shows includes keyboardist Lalle Larsson, singer Nad Sylvan, bassist and guitarist Jonas Reingold, multi-instrumentalist Rob Townsend, and drummer Felix Lehrmann. Before any of them set foot on a North American stage, Hackett has a packed schedule: he wraps his current U.K. tour on October 26, plays five dates in Italy in mid-November, and performs three solo acoustic shows in East Sussex, England, in early February 2027.
Immediately before the tour begins, Hackett is set to perform aboard the progressive rock festival cruise Cruise to the Edge alongside bands including Yes and Kansas at the start of April 2027, the station's report notes. He'll begin the monthlong North American tour just two days after docking in Atlanta.
A Shift From Last Year's Album-Focused Format
The 2027 setlist marks a change from Hackett's 2025 tour, which focused on performing Genesis' 1974 double album The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway in its entirety — the final Genesis studio record to feature Peter Gabriel on vocals. Earlier tours similarly built entire shows around individual records such as Foxtrot, but the new trek broadens back out to a set drawing from Hackett's 30-album solo catalog alongside Genesis staples.
That catalog work continues alongside the live dates: on November 13, 2026, Hackett is scheduled to release a remastered four-LP vinyl box set of his 2012 album Genesis Revisited II, according to Louder. That record featured guest vocalists and instrumentalists including Steven Wilson, Mikael Åkerfeldt, and the late John Wetton, and marked a turning point that expanded Hackett's touring scale internationally.
A Career Rooted in Genesis' Classic Era
Hackett served as Genesis' lead guitarist from 1971 to 1977, playing on six studio albums including Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound, and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, according to AllMusic. He's credited by guitar historians with pioneering two-handed tapping and sweep-picking techniques on early-1970s Genesis tracks like “Supper's Ready” and “Firth of Fifth,” an influence later cited by players including Eddie Van Halen and Yngwie Malmsteen, per Beneath a Desert Sky.
After leaving Genesis, Hackett co-founded the AOR supergroup GTR with former Yes guitarist Steve Howe in 1986, scoring a Top 20 U.S. Billboard Hot 100 hit with “When the Heart Rules the Mind” before the group disbanded in 1987. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis in March 2010, attending the New York City ceremony alongside former bandmates Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford.
Hackett has also stayed active as a recording artist in his own right, releasing his 30th solo studio album, the concept LP The Circus and the Nightwhale, in February 2024 through InsideOut Music. Ticket and show information for the 2027 North American tour is available through Hackett's website.
