Orlando is starting Monday partly to mostly cloudy and warm, but the calm morning will give way to a stormier afternoon. Highs should reach about 89 degrees before showers and thunderstorms become more likely, with heavy rain and gusty winds possible across the area.
The greatest storm chances arrive from roughly 2 p.m. through midnight, with an overall 80% chance of rain Monday. The National Weather Service in Melbourne says stronger storms could produce frequent lightning, wind gusts of 35 to 45 mph and brief periods of very heavy rain, with localized flooding possible on roads and in low-lying areas.
Storms Build After A Hot Morning
Skies are partly to mostly cloudy, with temperatures climbing through the 80s. The heat index could reach the mid-90s to around 103 degrees, so the combination of heat, humidity and lightning will make outdoor plans increasingly dicey as the afternoon wears on.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely Monday night, with temperatures settling near 74 degrees. Rain chances remain high Tuesday and Wednesday, when storms could again bring heavy downpours, frequent lightning and wind gusts up to 40 or 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
Wet Weather Lingers Through The Weekend
The unsettled pattern is expected to continue through Sunday, with daily shower and thunderstorm chances generally between 50% and 90%. Highs will mostly stay in the low to upper 80s, while overnight lows remain in the low to mid-70s.
Storms Tuesday and Wednesday could bring gusts of 40 to 50 mph around east-central Florida. Along the Atlantic coast, beachgoers should also be aware of a moderate rip-current risk Monday, while boating conditions are expected to become hazardous beginning Tuesday night.
