Sacramento is starting Tuesday with clear skies and temperatures in the low 50s, but the calm will not last all week. The city should warm to about 72 degrees under partly sunny skies, setting up a mild afternoon before clouds and storm chances move in later.
Storm Chances Arrive Late Tuesday
Rain chances remain minimal through Tuesday evening, then rise slightly between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. as Sacramento faces a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Overnight temperatures should settle near 54 degrees, with mostly cloudy skies and light northwest winds.
Wednesday brings another mild day, with a high near 72 and a 30% chance of showers or thunderstorms beginning late in the afternoon. The chance increases to 40% Wednesday night, so outdoor plans may need a backup option once the workday winds down.
Foothills Face The Bigger Thunderstorm Risk
The NWS Sacramento office says the broader storm system could produce stronger thunderstorms in the foothills and parts of the southern Sacramento Valley. Small hail, gusty winds, brief heavy rain and frequent lightning are possible in the more active areas, though the city forecast remains less threatening than the nearby foothills.
Dry, Sunny Weather Returns Friday
Thursday stays unsettled, with a 40% chance of rain showers before 11 a.m. and possible showers or thunderstorms through the afternoon. Highs should reach about 71 degrees before the system moves out.
Friday looks like the week’s weather reset: sunny skies and a high near 75, followed by a chilly 47-degree overnight low. Saturday and Sunday should remain mostly sunny and mild, with highs around 73, and no watches, warnings or advisories are currently posted for the Sacramento area.
